FROM MORTAL TO IMORTALITY
BEFORE THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH, THE SAINTS LIVE AS MORTAL, BUT OUR CELESTIAL BODIES WILL GET US TO RAPTURE TO MOVE TO THE SECOND LEVEL OF OUR REIGN WITH CHRIST.
Jesus had taught the Church about the rapture and the kind of divine life that every believer will have when they get raptured at the final harvest time, which he also called the regeneration.
In Matthew 19:28-30, the bible records that Jesus will begin his reign and his church will also reign with him. He said to the disciples: “28 …Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration or resurrection of the dead in Christ [Mark 12:25; Matthew 22:30; Luke 20:34-35], when the Son of man (Christ) shall sit in the throne of his glory (His Millennial reign), ye (the twelve disciples) also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel (during the 1000 years on earth in Israel).
This implies that the Church will come back to Earth with Christ to reign in and to judge the world during the millennial period.
WE WILL BE LIKE ANGELS IN HEAVEN
Now, the question is: How will we be once we get raptured? Will we still be mortal and natural like we are now?
In Mark 12, the bible shows us that Jesus taught that, in the regeneration, the Saints will be like angels after the rapture, which means we will not be mortal or natural human beings.
Mark 12 (Matthew 22:23–33; Luke 20:27–40) says: “18 Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus and questioned Him: 19“Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man is to marry his brother’s widow and raise up offspring for him. 20 Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died, leaving no children. 21 Then the second one married the widow, but he also died and left no children. And the third did likewise. 22 In this way, none of the seven left any children. And last of all, the woman died. 23 In the resurrection, then, whose wife will she be? For all seven were married to her. 24 Jesus said to them, “ Aren’t you mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God? 25 When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. Instead, they will be like the angels in heaven.
WHY WILL WE BE LIKE ANGELS IN HEAVEN?
Jesus said that we will be like angels in heaven because our celestial bodies are heavenly bodies just like those of angels.
In 1 Corinthians 15:40-58, Paul outlines that we that beleive in Christ must look to the day we get celestial bodies in order for us to get raptured and to reign with Christ for ever and ever. So the Saints will be celestial (immortals) because our new bodies will make us divine human beings.
So he says: “40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
WHY DO WE NEED CELESTIAL BODIES?
We need celestial bodies to be able to get raptured to unite with Christ for eternal life in the new earth after our reign on earth during the 1000 years.
In 1 Corinthians 15:50-58, 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
WHAT MUST WE DO NOW?
Paul teaches the churches to fight the good fight of faith. And that finght is to maintain ourselves in the saving faith. He says in 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Why? because, in Hebrews 10, he says: 35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
